Your Best Work

When you are little and learning to color, sometimes you will color outside the lines. And that’s ok because you are little and just learning to color. You are doing your best. It only takes a little effort for your work to be acceptable and display on the refrigerator door worthy, even if it isn’t perfect.

But as you grow, you strive to color inside the lines. And maybe you learn to outline and shade areas of your picture. You learn and seek to color the best picture that you can. You work harder and harder to get your picture perfect. And maybe your work is even worthy to be framed.

That’s how it is in our journey with the Lord. In our awkward beginning, we get outside the lines sometimes and our work is a little messy. But God is merciful and He knows we are trying. As we grow in the Lord, we need to put more and more effort into what we are doing for Him. We don’t need to let things that ought to be done slide. And we need to make sure we are always turning in our very best work.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Psalms 103:8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

1 Peter 2:2-3 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
