Free to All

Have you ever had a garage sale? We have one from time to time. And one thing that I’ve learned is that it’s almost impossible to give stuff away at a garage sale. You can price it for a quarter or a dime and people will happily buy it. They’ll walk away with a smile on their face thinking they got a great deal. But, if you put it in a box with a sign that says “free” people are reluctant to take it. Most won’t even look in the box to see if there might be something they could use. It’s like if you are giving it away at a garage sale, then it must not be worth taking home.

It makes me wonder if that’s what makes people reluctant to come to Christ Jesus. He freely offers salvation to any and all who will come to him. It isn’t difficult. His gift is offered to both rich and poor alike. He paid the price. It will cost you nothing to look inside the box.
2 Peter 3:9 KJV -The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
