God is the Light

Every day it seems there is news of a terrible tragedy somewhere in the world. Not only in our country, but all across the world there are horrible natural disasters, bombings, mass murders and such. And I hear people saying, “Where is God? Why isn’t He protecting us? Why doesn’t He stop this from happening?” Funny, that people expect God to be around and taking care of them during times of trouble. Then, those same people do everything in their power to boot Him out of their lives when times are good.
God is the Light. The absence of His presence is darkness. If you are living in darkness, if your country and your schools are shadowed in darkness, it’s because God isn’t there. We have to ask ourselves how often are we inviting God into our lives, our homes, our schools, our celebrations, and our country?? Do we pray every day and thank God for the blessings in our lives? Do we pray before our meals to thank Him for our food? Do we encourage prayer in our schools? Or do we listen to heathen voices that say prayer shouldn’t be allowed? Do we start our celebrations and events with a prayer of thanksgiving and invite the Lord to be there? Do we pray for our country? Or do we encourage the enactment of sinful laws and say I don’t care what the Bible says this is how I think things should be done?
If we continue to push the Light out of our lives, we can only expect that we will live in darkness. And life without the Light is full of the infinite horrific events that are making the news each night. So, if we want to come out of this darkness, we are going to have to STOP switching off the Light.
1 John 1:5-7 KJV - This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Ephesians 5:14-16 - Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
