Heavenly Treasures

My husband and I recently made a batch of homemade salsa. We worked for three hours and had ten pints of salsa when we finished. Not a lot considering the amount of time and effort we invested in doing it.

But, there is a great deal of satisfaction in putting up vegetables out of your own garden. And it’s a very good feeling to know that what you have preserved for future use is of the highest quality. It’s made under very clean conditions and with the very best ingredients. And it tastes great! Plus, there is quite the feeling of accomplishment when you hear the pop from the sealing lids. You know that the food you’ve just canned is going to be good and will sustain you later.

I like to think that storing up our heavenly treasures works somewhat in the same way. It takes some work but when we’re finished, we’ll have stores of the highest quality to sustain us. I’m not talking about silver and gold. I’m talking about the fruits of the Spirit among which are charity, faith, hope, truth, kindness, joy and peace – all preserved and waiting for us in our heavenly home.

Luke 12:33 KJV- Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

Galatians 5:22-23 KJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Ephesians 5:9 KJV (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
