The Orchid

Two weeks after I completed my final reconstructive surgery following my breast cancer, my sister had surgery for uterine cancer. When I went to the hospital to visit her, I took her an orchid to brighten her room.

My sister continued on with her cancer battle. Following her surgery, she had to have chemo and radiation. She is now doing well. Her scans and blood work have all come back good.

But during all of that time, her orchid had stopped blooming and she thought it was dead. She decided to give it some more ice cubes, which is how you water an orchid. And as she put it, “Give it one more chance.”

She called me the other day and she was all excited! Her orchid had started blooming again! And it is putting on new leaves!

To me, this sounded symbolic of a new beginning for my sister. It is another chance for her to live cancer free and for her to renew, to revive, and to bloom even bigger and better for the Lord!! Thanks and praise be to the Lord for her healing!!

I Corinthians 2:9 KJV - But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
