Just Smile

On a billboard for a dentist office, I read a message that said, “Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.” I laughed out loud! Then as I considered this statement, I realized that some of the most beautiful smiles that I’ve ever seen have been big toothless grins from babies and from older folks who have lost all their teeth.
When babies smile, it lights up their whole face. Everything is new, exciting and wonderful to them. And who can keep from smiling back at them? And how about those little smiles with just a new little tooth or two? So cute!!
Older folks that have lost all their teeth also have some awesome smiles. They’ve lived a lot but some things still bring them pure joy. And when they get tickled about something, all the laugh lines etched in their faces raise until even their eyes are smiling.
So for me (since I’m not a dentist-ha ha!), a better statement would be –Life is short. Smile, just smile! And let your joy in the Lord be seen by the world!
1 Peter 1:8 KJV- Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
