In the Shelter of His Arms

Molly and Charlie, our wiener dogs, love to nose around in the flower bed next to the house. One day Molly was milling around over by the rose bush. The rose bush is a Knock Out Rose, which at the time was about five feet tall and very full. A little hummingbird flew right up and got in Molly’s face. Molly was very startled and kind of jumped back. The diligent little hummer persisted. It flew right up in her face like it was giving Molly a good scolding. Molly got enough of it pretty quick and came back to me and the shelter of the porch.

Later that fall, we trimmed back the rose bush. And there in the center was the teeny tiniest little nest. The hummingbird had built a nest in the center of the rose bush protected by all of the branches, thorns and foliage. It was a safe place from all potential predators. And the thorny branches cradled the little nest like God’s loving arms.

Psalms 61:3 (KJV)For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
