We live in the country. So, our electricity probably goes off more often than it does in some places. The other day when I got home from work the power line was across the driveway and the power was off. It was a really cold day. There was snow on the ground and the wind was howling. But then the power hardly ever goes off on a pretty day, does it?
It’s funny how quickly everything gets put into perspective when the electricity is off. You begin to think about how are we going to stay warm? How are we going to see to move around in the house? And how are we going to fix dinner? Basic things such as these become your primary focus. And you realize electricity isn’t a necessity. You can (if you really, really, really have to) manage without it. People lived without it for years and years, didn’t they?
The only true and necessary power in our lives is the saving power in the blood of Jesus Christ. This is the power that we cannot live without. It’s the power that will save us from our sins and sustain us forever…the power that will never go down!!
Romans 1:16(KJV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
1 John 1:7(KJV) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Colossians 1:14(KJV) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
