My Husband always says that if a chicken were bigger it would be the meanest animal on the planet!! Chickens are extremely cruel to each other. We had a rooster that was hurt and having trouble walking. The other chickens almost pecked him to death before we found him and put him in a safe place in the barn. A chicken will even eat a snake!

We have one hen, in particular, that is VERY hateful. Our youngest son, who is actually very good with animals, helps gather the eggs. He always says to the hen, “Are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?” That hateful chicken will look at him sideways with her eyes about half shut and her “bock, bock” sounds more like a growl! Very intimidating! If it were left up to me, she would keep her eggs. But, my guys always manage to gather them. They tell me to watch out for that one she’ll flog you! I guess she chooses the “hard way” every time.

When it comes to being a child of God, Jesus said in Matthew 11:30- For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. There is no need for God’s children to ever choose the hard way.
