His Sword

The Lord showed me something really cool the other day. Have you ever noticed how the cross resembles a sword standing upright with the point of the blade being stuck in the ground? The crossbar and top of the cross looks like the cross-guard and hilt of the sword. But, this makes perfect sense doesn’t it? The Lord fought a battle when He died on the cross for our sins. It wasn’t an earthly battle. It was spiritual warfare! And His sword wasn’t an earthly one; it was a cross. His death provided for freedom from our sins and for our salvation. Jesus fought the battle for us and gained the victory when He said, “It is finished” (John 19:30) and He died on that cross. Praise God!!!

Luke 9:23 (KJV) And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
