Along Came a Spider

For a good part of the summer, we’ve had a spider living on our front porch. It stayed just outside the front door. The spider was black, fuzzy and about the size of a quarter. Now, normally a spider on the inside of my house would get smashed. But since this one was on the outside, I thought what harm could it do? Right??
Then, one day I was cleaning house. I looked up at the living room ceiling near the front door. And it was covered with these teeny tiny black dots. The dots were moving and a few were dangling from webs! My harmless outdoor spider had babies…gillions of them! They were everywhere! And the babies liked it better INSIDE my house!!
The mother spider and her babies reminded me of sin. When you allow something that doesn’t belong in your life to stay, then it gets a foothold. And if you continue to tolerate it, then it multiplies and becomes more invasive until you are totally overrun and no longer in control. So, stop that sin at the front door before it ever has a chance to come inside!!
Romans 6:23 (KJV) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
