Just a Little Burnt

I love fried okra. And even with the weird growing season that we’ve had this year, we managed to raise some pretty nice okra. I had gone to the garden and picked the okra one evening. And I got it all ready to fry for dinner the next night. I told my husband to wait until I got home to cook it. That I knew just how to do it and could fry it really well!
So the next evening, I started frying the okra. Well then in a very interesting turn of events, I felt very strongly that I needed to text my boys. I needed to tell them how much they mean to me. I needed to tell them that if I could choose my children from all the kids in the world, I would choose them! It was really pressing on my heart to tell them these things!
It was a very long text to them both. And you guessed it…in the process, I burnt the okra!!
God hears it when we are being prideful. And even though He took the sting out of my reprimand by allowing me to do something heartfelt for my kids, He still called me on it. So, I will let my husband cook the next batch of fried okra. And I know that his will be perfect!
Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
1 John 2:16 (KJV) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
