Worming the Kids

I volunteered at a local food pantry the other day. And for the most part, I spent the day sacking chicken. Two other ladies and I took big boxes of bulk chicken strips and separated it into smaller bags that could be distributed to families. At the end of the day, we had filled a big upright freezer full of little bags of chicken. That seemed like a lot of chicken. However given the number of families that they serve, that chicken MAYBE lasted them two days.
My sister’s doctor went on a mission trip to Honduras this summer. When my sister asked him what he spent his time doing while he was there he said, “Worming the kids."
There is need everywhere. And many of the jobs, like sacking the chicken, take very little skill. In the New Year, look for places where you can serve the Lord. It doesn’t have to be something big or glamorous. Just take the time to fill a need like “worming the kids!”
Be blessed this New Year!
Hebrews 13:21 (KJV) Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Acts 20:35 (KJV) I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
