Duck & Rice

When I was growing up we had potatoes at almost every meal. They were prepared in a number of different ways – mashed, fried, baked, creamed, scalloped, boiled, hash browns…well you get it. We ate a lot of potatoes! But we rarely ever had rice as a side dish. We ate rice as cereal in the morning for breakfast sometimes, but not that often. So when mom decided to make duck and rice for dinner one night, it took us all by surprise! And she got very aggravated at dad for getting out a cereal bowl and putting butter, sugar and milk on his rice! My sister and I, however, thought it was a great idea!

How are you raising your kids? Are you taking them to church? Do your kids see you praying? Do they see you serving the Lord? It all goes back to how we are raised, doesn’t it? Kids learn by example and just like little sponges, they soak up everything.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
