The Pink Purse

Let me start by saying that my mom fell and badly broke her right arm a few months ago. It has taken a lot of time and therapy for it to heal. And she still has trouble lifting heavy objects with that arm. So, that’s one reason why her fishing story this week was very disturbing.
Mom and dad went fishing at a friend’s pond. They had to park the car at his house and walk quite a ways thru the field to get to the pond. So, mom took her purse with her. She put the purse down on the pond bank so she could fish. Mom’s purse is pink. And I guess it looked like something fun to the big black thousand pound bull that came along and grabbed it! He was slinging it around and mom was worried that he would sling it into the pond. She said, “I was not going to let that thing have my purse!” She managed to get a hold of it and tried to pull the purse away from the bull. But he didn’t want to let go! Mom and the bull had a tug of war over the purse before he finally turned loose. She was laughing and said, “He slobbered all over it!” Thank the Lord mom wasn’t hurt!
Mom’s story reminded me a little of the story about David and Goliath. Sometimes you just have to battle the bull. Or like David you have to take the field. And face that giant. Cast down your fears. And always, ALWAYS put your faith in the Lord!!
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
