God's Standard

A young visiting preacher spoke at church. In the church, a large King James Bible sits on the podium. This man was using a newer translation of the Bible and sat his book on top of the King James Bible. His bible slid off the King James Bible multiple times. I kid you not; it fell off so many times that it distracted from his message. Not only that but at least one of the quotes the young man read from his translation directly contradicted the Word in the King James Bible. By the Holy Spirit, I felt the Lord sending a message to this young man not to cover up His Word with the words of another. And He also was telling the young man to use the King James Bible that was set before him to deliver his message.
I think most people will agree that the King James Bible is the standard for God’s Word. But in the last forty years, many translations have been published and embraced by the public. The problem is that in doing these translations, they do not go back to the ancient manuscripts. They take the King James Bible and alter the Word to the point that they can obtain a copyright on the material. And they are doing this for profit! You have to ask yourself if the Word is changed to the point that a copyright can be obtained, is it still God’s Word? Or is it now man’s word?
God’s Word is free. His salvation is free. And I’m sure if they could figure out a way to slap a copyright on salvation, they would try to do that too in a heartbeat!
People say it doesn’t matter which version of the Bible we use. But it does matter. If you quote and teach others from a corrupted translation, then you are just as responsible for the spread of that false word as the person who wrote the book.
Revelation 22:18-19 (KJV) For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Proverbs 1:24-33 (KJV) Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
