The Hug Ministry

I don’t think I know a person with a more gentle spirit than my youngest son, Quinn. And I’m not just saying this because I’m his mom! But I’ve watched this kid grow and become the person he is today. He is quiet and purposely tries to stay in the background. But at some point, and I’m not sure when, he began what I lovingly call “Quinn’s Hug Ministry”. He genuinely cares for others, his family, friends and church family. Just in general he cares for other people. He says he only has one rule- they have to want a hug. And if they want a hug, he gives them one – men, women and children. He’ll walk up to the most outwardly standoffish person, open his arms wide and say “bring it in”. And they do! Or he’ll say something like, “how about one for the road?” Members of our church family look for him before they leave to get their “Quinn hug”.

A hug is such a simple and caring gesture. But like a thoughtful smile or an uplifting kind word, it can show someone that they are loved and cared for. And that is what the Lord would have us do, love and care for one another. So, “bring it in” brothers and sisters and feel the warmth of the Savior’s love for you!

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

1 John 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
