The Comforter

I had a very vivid dream the other night. It was so real that I woke up wondering if it had really happened. In my dream, I was holding my sister’s hand and we were running bare foot in the sweet green grass. We were little girls again. Our cheeks were rosy and we were laughing. We were wearing little matching dresses like momma used to make for us from the same pattern but in different colors. And we were having the best time!! I could feel myself running. I could feel the nice breeze and the cool grass under my feet. I could hear our laughter. I could even feel my sister’s hand in mine. And when I woke up from the dream, I had an amazing peace and a joyful heart. Every thought of that dream just makes me smile!
My sister passed away seven months ago. And one of the things I miss most about our times together is laughter. Life is quieter now…more serious and in some ways more focused. So it’s interesting that this dream was full of laughter and hope.
God blesses us with His Spirit, which among other things is our Comforter. There isn’t anywhere in the Bible that says this comfort has a time limit. Whether we need Him now or a hundred years from now, He will be there for us. He’ll be helping us thru all the sad and difficult times in our lives. And maybe, just maybe He’ll show us what will be someday and give us a little glimpse of heaven.
I Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
