A Good Pruning

There is an old very large sycamore tree on the neighbor’s property just across the fence from our yard. It had some dead limbs and such. So, this year the neighbor had it pruned. They cut the tree back so far that I thought it would surely die. And I did not think it would be leafing out this year at all. But it has! As you can see from the picture, it looks good. It is covered with leaves and looks healthy.

From time to time, God gives us a good pruning as well. He gets in there and cuts out all of the old junk in our lives. And He gives us a chance to come back stronger and healthier. Speaking as one who has had a good pruning, it isn’t pleasant. And the road to recovery is sometimes a long one. But without all of the dead weight holding you back, you can grow, shine and produce even more fruit for the Lord. So no worries, if the Lord is giving you a good pruning. He is a fantastic gardener!!!

John 15:1-2 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Hebrews 12:7-8 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without

chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Proverbs 3:11-12 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
